South Washington County Schools is a suburban district located southeast of St. Paul, Minnesota. The district includes all or parts of the communities of Cottage Grove, Newport, St. Paul Park, Woodbury, as well as, Afton, Denmark and Grey Cloud Island Townships. The mission of SoWashCo Schools is to educate students for success.

SoWashCo Schools will use an opt-in transportation system for the 2024-25 school year.
After much anticipation, we're thrilled to announce the recipients of prizes from our recent I Love To Read Video Contest.
This summer, SoWashCo Online is offering a small number of accelerated learning opportunities for students going into grades 9-12 for the 2024-25 school year.
Families should start planning on getting their student’s vaccination status updated for the next school year.
It is important that students read books and texts that they can both decode (read the words) and comprehend (understand the meaning). This is referred to as a “just right” book or text.
Students in grades 3-8, 10 and 11 will soon begin taking the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA).
The district ACT (American College Testing) date for students in grade 11 will be on Tuesday, April 23, 2024
South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) will continue the opt-in transportation system to help ensure the most efficient routing for general education students eligible to ride a school bus.

The Triple “A” Award is a Minnesota State High School League Award that recognizes seniors excelling in academics, arts and athletics. Teachers, coaches, directors and advisors nominate students.

Ona Wilcox, a fifth-grade teacher at Pine Hill Elementary, created “Belonging,” an after-school book club for elementary-age girls of African and African American descent.
This month we recognize our School Board members for their dedication to SoWashCo Schools.
The word “literacy” has gotten a lot of attention lately – and that’s a good thing! When you hear the word “literacy” what do you think of? Some people may think of reading, or reading and writing, but literacy is so much more than that.
During “I Love to Read Month” in February, SoWashCo Schools is hosting a literacy contest that is open to all students. To participate in the contest students are asked to submit a book recommendation video.
