Lake Middle School Recognized as a 2022 National Blue Ribbon School

South Washington County Schools is proud to share that Lake Middle School is being recognized as a 2022 National Blue Ribbon School. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups. The recognition was announced Friday, Sept. 16, by U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona.

Lake Middle was specifically recognized as an Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing School as one of Minnesota’s highest performing schools in closing achievement gaps between a school’s student groups.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools award affirms the hard work of Lake Middle staff, educators and families in creating a safe, student-centered environment inspiring Leadership, Academics, Kindness, and Excellence (LAKE) for everyone.

Lake Middle School understands that each student's social and emotional needs must be fully supported for learning, but staff also hold students to high expectations. The school has utilized several strategies in developing social and emotional learning through schoolwide messaging and common language around our school culture and climate, building and maintaining relationships and support systems for all students and overall goals for academic success.
