SoWashCo Schools Continues Gathering Feedback about New Long-range Facility Plan

South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) on Tuesday held the second of three community meetings to gather feedback about a new long-range facility plan that is anticipated to be brought to voters in November.

District leadership shared information about the recent community survey, new demographic study and the input gathered from staff, families and community members. The focus has been on what individuals would prioritize to be in the new 5-year facility plan. 

District leaders shared that SoWashCo Schools:

• Will not bring forth a plan to the School Board that closes any school;

• Will not ignore the current economic conditions;

• Will not ignore input from community and staff, results of the community survey or the updated demographic report.

SoWashCo Schools third community meeting will be held from 6:30 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 23 at East Ridge High School (ERHS). The purpose of the meeting will be to review a final draft of the 5-year facility plan and gather community feedback.

The community meetings are an opportunity for students, staff, families and community members to engage with district leadership in the long-range facility planning process and to share feedback and ideas that will help guide the new plan.

Next Steps:

• SoWashCo Schools will continue to gather feedback from students, staff and families. 

• Information gathered will be presented to the School Board during the workshop on Thursday, May 4. 

• A final draft of the long-range facility plan will be shared with the School Board on Thursday, May 18.

• A final draft of the long-range facility plan will be shared at the Community Meeting on Tuesday, May 23 at ERHS.

• The final plan will be reviewed with the School Board during the School Board Workshop meeting on June 1. 

• Final approval of the plan, with review and comment will be held during the June 15 School Board meeting.
