Valley Crossing Elementary School (VCES) students won awards at the Minnesota Zoo’s ZOOMS STEM Design Challenge.

Two groups of students from Valley Crossing Elementary School (VCES) received top honors at the Minnesota Zoo’s ZOOMS STEM Design Challenge. They showcased their solutions to a real problem faced by the zookeepers and staff at the Minnesota Zoo. 

Mackenzie Kollm and Caroline Barrons won the Flint Hills Innovation Award for developing a unique and outstanding Zoo design challenge solution. Alex Tarshikov, Tommy Chen, Daniel Pratscher, and Tharun Beygan won first place for excellence in exhibit design and engineering of the Malayan Tapir exhibit.
